Buffalo, N.Y. - The C. Stuart and Jane H. Hunt Art Gallery, will be exhibiting the work of its artists in residence in an exhibition titled, “Rooted & Released.” Its opening reception will take place August 18th, 2022 from 6pm-9pm and the exhibition will be on view through September 16th, 2022. The gallery founded by Peter Hunt [of Hunt Real Estate], is providing free studio space to local and emerging artist’s through a 4 month artist in residence program. During this residency program, developed by Christina Buscarino, for the past 4 months the artists have taken part in a mentorship program in collaboration with the Buffalo Society of Artists and other local arts organizations through guest speakers and workshops.
“We believe that through this energizing environment our Residents’ talents and creativity can be encouraged and enhanced,” said Peter Hunt, executive director at C. Stuart and Jane H. Hunt Art Gallery.
C. Stuart and Jane H. Hunt Art Gallery residents have also had the opportunity to get immersed into the Buffalo arts community and feature their artwork to collectors and art enthusiasts. The gallery has also sponsored the resident’s involvement in local art festivals and will now feature the six residents in an exhibition that marks the end of their residency.
The opening reception of Rooted & Released will showcase the artwork completed by the six artists that entered Hunt Residencies studios back in April 2022 when Hunt Art Gallery celebrated its grand opening. Kevin Burzynski, Elizabeth D’Amore, Danielle Saeva, Jeannine Mullan, Peter Olonade, and Jesse Lee Vargas Colucci are taking over the main gallery. The evening will also introduce the arrival of our seven new artists in residence.
“I leave my studio space with confidence for meeting my goals as an artist, and can largely attribute this success to the encouragement and creative energy beaming from my fellow artists and gallery manager,” said Elizabeth D’Amore, resident artist. “We learned valuable advice and resources from local artists and art-focused agencies during our weekly meetings. We were encouraged to get more involved in local art shows and regional competitions. We had meaningful conversations about one another’s artwork, processes, and our roles/identities as artists that I will continue to reflect upon”
Following this event, the gallery will be open weekly Wednesday through Friday from 11am-7pm and Saturdays from 10am-4pm.
