Hunt Residencies Group Exhibition
Rooted and ReleasedAug 18 6:00pm — Sep 17, 2022 3:00pm
This group exhibition showcases the works of Hunt Art Gallery’s artists-in-residence. Over a four month period, local and emerging artists (Kevin Burzynski, Elizabeth D’Amore, Danielle Saeva, Jeannine Mullan, Peter Olonade, and Jesse Lee Vargas Colucci) have occupied studios provided through Hunt Residencies and have been immersed into a collaborative environment. Having taken part in a mentorship program developed by Gallery Manager, Christina Buscarino, in collaboration with the Buffalo Society of Artists and other local arts organizations, the residents were able to experience a series of guest speakers and workshops. With their residency coming to a conclusion, the artists are now showcasing their work in a gallery exhibition.
Rooted & Released embodies development and growth through the act of immersion and dedication to a new practice. Despite entering this residency period with preconceived notions of what they would create, these artists allowed themselves to experience change, challenge themselves, and explore new ideas. In the works presented, witness the ebbs and flows between the artist and their artwork, as well as the impact of their environment
