Susan Copley and Bunny Leighton: Force(s) of Nature
Apr 14 — Jun 11, 2022
It is not often that abstract work moves in the way this work does. The successful relationships among elements on the canvas are crucial in the process of really seeing the artist’s intent, and the process of really seeing involves more than the eyes.
In this exhibition you will see Susan Copley’s bold, paint-loaded and energetic brushstrokes as well as Bunny Leighton’s gestural and animated markings that are so transparently emotional.
Copley writes, “My work relates to and celebrates the world around us, the natural environment, the elements found in nature, the colors of flowers, the effect of light on a copse of trees, and the repetition of patterns found in landscapes.” As you view these works again and again, they will take you with them, transcending the objects into the dynamism of its form, the sentiment they convey and speaking to the very nature of what abstraction is.
“…all of this is just a part of searching, finding, celebrating and savoring the Soul,” —Bunny Leighton.
Now on view until June 11th 2022 during regular gallery hours.
