Robert George is an artist and researcher from Buffalo, NY. He has an MFA in Studio Art from the University at Buffalo (2024), and a bachelor's degree in Media Studies & English Literature from Hobart and William Smith Colleges (2018). Robert’s artwork uses UFOs as a vehicle for exploring themes of truth, manipulation, media influence, and image appropriation. This work stems from a lifelong interest in the phenomenon of which Robert has identified as both a fervent believer and hardcore skeptic. He is now content to consider himself an agnostic on the topic.
Robert’s MFA thesis show, The Majic Research Group, had him play the role of an archivist who gave tours of a seemingly legitimate office of UFO investigation tucked away on the University at Buffalo’s North Campus. Part performance, part installation and wholly psy-op, The Majic Research Group used Robert’s appropriated and fabricated UFO evidence to examine the inextricable relationship between the US Air Force and flying saucers.
Many Suns is the fourth show that Robert and Alex Cassetti have had together. It follows Ghosts of Film, Redacted Forms, and 1700 Hours: Line, Reflection, Image, all of which showed in the University at Buffalo Project Space. Robert has also shown at the RIT City Arts Space, the Silver Eye Lab, BICA’s Project Space, Cass Gallery, and at CEPA Gallery where he currently works in Education and Administration.
