Bunny Leighton
Mixed Media Artist
“I speak with my hands so others can hear with their eyes.”
Bunny Leighton is an award winning artist who has been represented in private collections throughout the US, Europe, and Asia. A Buffalo native, business owner, and teacher, her work has been shown for 28 years in the Member’s Gallery at Albright Knox, with multiple exhibition inclusions at the Burchfield Penney Gallery and other regional venues. After a long and difficult journey due to many serious hand surgeries, her free line technique mirrors a renewed surge of creativity gained in recovery and she joyously continues to create her art with an energized search for the soul.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Art is not what I do, it is who I am. I have a desire to share what is felt and communicate that process visually. Reading the title of each piece will give you an immediate answer to what feeling I am portraying. The use of deliberate yet freely drawn “energy lines,” give homage to living in my work. Being there. Experiencing the energies described, and mostly the evidence of my hands. All of this is just a part of searching, finding, celebrating and savoring the soul. I speak with my hands so that others can hear with their eyes.
